Day 25 Quesnel to Barkerville

Today it was a very short, but chilly ride from Quesnel to Barkerville. I hear that the weather is supposed to become warmer as the week progresses.
We arrive in Barkerville, an old mining town about 10 AM.  Although Ken assures us that Barkerville is a lot of fun, we are skeptical, after a boring day at Fort Steele, another old town. (George having fun below)

At least there is a program that has events such as debates in the middle of the city,
entertaining presentations about gold mining,

fun theatrical reviews,
and fun serious drama plays in which Colin was invited to participate as a witness at the trial
All the actors were very good, much better than we expected.
As we were spending the night in Barkerville, we also had dinnner at the Chinese restaurant in the town and celebrated Callie's birthday. Not one fireworks item came out for this birthday.
Callie and friend Richard
We both agreed that it indeed was a much better visit than Fort Steele.

  1. I had gathered that your trip to Fort Steele wasn't particularly interesting. We had a v. good trip there about 17 years ago, but it was in August so that perhaps makes a difference.

  2. Yes, they were to "open" the next day after we were there. The train ride was fun, but otherwise, it was dead.
